It was so crowded we had to sit at the bar. The drinks were good if expensive, cider on tap and pale ale, the waitress was nice and attentive but the food took forever to arrive and was so poorly undercooked and inadequate we had to complain. We ordered a fajita which came with warmed over veggies, unmelted cheese, no guac, no salsa and only 3 tiny tortillas. Also potato skins which were not hot or crisp and also had unmelted cheese on them. This was our second and last visit as the sweet waitress told us that she tells management about the complaints and not only do they not care, they refuse to address the problems. A few years ago this pub was renovated to look like a restaurant, it's now cold, stark, sterile and austere. They're lucky they have a Beer and Wine store attached to them to keep them going when they lose more in-house customers. We're spending our entertainment dollars elsewhere.

No better place to watch the aging crowd that frequent the establishment try to enjoy reasonably-priced food while simultaneously judging the sudden onset of barely-legal and unnecessarily loud folk that are drawn by the new renovations, walk up the flight of stairs (testing both endurance and sobriety) to the men's washroom that was once conveniently stumbling distance from any lower level table now relocated to the new second floor that has a room that is just that; a room. (I think there's a bar in there but it looked more like a small podium the one time I accidentally walked in there looking for the can), and watch (but not hear) the game on one of many large televisions. They also have good curly fries.

Found a pubic hair in my pasta. The bald guy at the door needs to shine his shoes. Don't get me wrong though. The long haired grey pubic hair gave me something to do while I waited for drinks to come from the oversized bartender for about 15 minutes.

Would go back though cause I found a fatty to take him so now I know where they hang out.

I have been going to this pub for over 10 years now. I have mostly always enjoyed my time with my friends at this pub. Food is reasonable priced. Mostly the servers are nice. I have seen quite a few friendly servers come and go -- Margot, Rachel, Melissa, Stephanie. The pub is 2 minutes from my home.

Lately, my experience hasn't been quite good. The bouncer-looking gentleman with muscular arms and shaven head, who's mostly dressed in black and sits or stands by the entrance, needs to learn some nice manners. He always makes me feel unwelcome; makes me feel as though they're giving away free food and drink. He is borderline rude and, when the floor is full, tells me I can't step inside the door. I have never felt this unwelcome at this place.

The patio used to me a favorite lounging place for me and my friends. Not any more. I think the city may have restricted the number is tables. It now looks Emory and boring.

The new upstairs lounge isn't any better. It has two tiny windows and is not very pleasant place to lounge with friends. Not a great layout.

But my unpleasant experience is due to this "bouncer" gentleman at the door and his rude and unfriendly behavior. I don't understand why a pub needs a bouncer. He said be replaced with a host who, when the place is packed, takes down the names of customers. This dude doesn't even know or care who lived up first.

I'll give this pub a free more chance and if things don't improve, there's another newer pub, the Taphouse, right around the corner.

I shall not put up with rudeness of this bouncer.

Guildford station used to be one of the main get togather spots for me and my friends, when we were in our early twenties. My friend circle loved this place and we have had many good times here.

Recently we went back (about two months ago) after many years. Brought back old memories, the renovations look good and give the pub a more modern look.

The food is usually really good, prices low and the staff is hit or miss - sometimes friendly, sometimes rude. I'll give four stars for the good memories!
